Sleyter John Sánchez Ortiz had been released after receiving alternative measures in an open case for possession and possession of weapons and after four days he was shot dead on a main road in Guasmo, in the south of Guayaquil.
This Sunday, around 1:00 p.m., the 22-year-old was moving towards a store to buy food, when he was attacked by a bullet on Roberto Serrano road.
Two men carried out this attack, according to witnesses of the violent event. The attackers moved on foot towards the victim and after committing the crime, they fled in different directions to distract those present.
Police units were deployed to the area to collect evidence and transfer the body to the morgue.
Police Major Eduardo Serrano, chief of operational support for the Southern District, indicated that the victim confirmed a shot to the head and died instantly in the area.

According to judicial records, Sánchez was summoned by a judge for January 24 in order to appear at the direct procedure hearing for the crime of arms trafficking in the Southern Criminal Judicial Unit, on av. July 25.
The police chief stressed that the citizen had several criminal records. Among those, he recorded an arrest in March 2022 for the reception and then on January 3 he was arrested for carrying a firearm, said Serrano, who expressed his surprise at his recent arrest and release the following day.
In the recent case, the judge had ruled that Sánchez comply with substitute measures so that he appears periodically before the competent authority and was also prohibited from leaving the country.

“This surprises us given that we are five days away from the arrest of the subject; Knowing the police work to arrest him, with a history, and the competent authority gives him this type of substitute measures, “said the police chief.
Serrano stated that apparently this assassination could be related to some revenge on the part of opponents or a settling of scores.
Until this Sunday morning, Zone 8, which also includes the Samborondón and Durán cantons, already had at least 44 violent deaths, according to police data.
Between last Friday and this Sunday noon, at least twenty violent events were recorded, especially in sectors of the northwest and south of the city.
Among these cases, three people were shot dead and another wounded in areas of Guasmo during the night of this Saturday, in the span of four hours. In addition, there was a multiple case with four people shot inside a house in block 9 of Flor de Bastión.
During this afternoon, in addition to what was recorded, the discovery of a human head was reported on a pedestrian bridge in the La Florida sector, on the Perimetral road.
Police personnel continue with different operations and interventions in sectors of the city. The results include 36 detainees, 22 confiscated firearms, five dismantled gangs and 30,800 grams of drugs seized in zone 8. (YO)
