A sentence for sexual abuse of a girl was upheld against Jesús Eloy V., 42, in an appeal hearing.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the event occurred on the afternoon of November 27, 2020, in a building located in the south of Quito, where a store operated.

The 10-year-old girl, accompanied by her cousin, went to buy avocados.
At that moment, Jesús Eloy V., a partner of the business owner, pushed the girl into the premises and touched her private parts while she reached for the product on the counter.
When the victim paid him, the man would have told him that he was giving him one more.
The judges ratified the sentence of seven years of deprivation of liberty, the fine of 20 unified basic salaries ($9,000), and the payment of $5,000 as comprehensive reparation to the victim that had been imposed by the Criminal Court of first instance.

For the Prosecutor’s Office, the evidence presented at the trial hearing demonstrated the materiality of the crime and the responsibility of the sentenced person, with which the Criminal Chamber decided to maintain the sentence applied. (YO)
