Several accidents were reported in the car race called the Ciudad de Cuenca Grand Prix, which took place this Sunday in various avenues and streets of the city.
A vehicle that was driving along Fray Vicente Solano avenue collided with some metal fences and caused injuries to some fans, including a minor.

The event organized by the Automóvil Club del Azuay offered all the guarantees for the attendees, but in the end it did not happen like that, because around 2:00 p.m. a competitor skidded in the opposite direction until crashing into the fences placed on the sidewalk of the avenue.

It hit the citizens hard and due to the impact caused several injuries that were treated by the Red Cross of Azuay. Due to this and other situations the event was cancelled.
Faced with this situation, the Political Chief of the Cuenca Canton, Estefanía Vintimilla, ordered the definitive suspension of the circuit, citing the “weather and security” conditions.
But that was not the only mishap that occurred on the day in which the organizers assured that it would be safe, because earlier another driver who was going at high speed overturned until colliding with the facade of a house.

Control was also offered over the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages in the areas near the circuit, but around 1:00 p.m. the Citizen Guard seized dozens of beer bottles hidden in plastic cans.
