Merchants and users of the largest retail seafood market in Manta were surprised, first by the shots that were heard in an area full of people, especially on weekends, and then by learning that the victim was a vendor.
Freddy Armando Delgado Bailón was assassinated this Saturday morning with at least four shots while carrying out a transaction near the fish cleaning area in the Playita Mía sector, near the Tarqui parish.
The hitman arrived and took advantage of the fact that Delgado was sitting down to attack him. This person’s colleagues were barely able to avoid the attack and, after the incident, tried to help her, but she no longer had vital signs.

After that attack and one kilometer away from Playita Mía, near the IESS subcenter that is in the Los Esteros parish, a vehicle was burned.
The Police suspect that those who attempted the life of Delgado were mobilizing in that car.
The victim had a judicial record that arose in the year 2000 and lasted until 2019. He was pointed out in cases of crimes against property, robbery, illegal association, entry of prohibited items and even for tragic drugs.

Last year, in the Playita Mía sector, two people were murdered, one of them the brother of Jorge Luis Zambrano, alias itchyformer leader of the band Los Choneros.
So far in 2023, ten people have died violently, while in 2022 there were 511 people killed. (YO)
