The influenza A (H1N1) 2009 strain – swine flu – was detected in all regions of Russia. It is reported by RBC with reference to the press service of Rospotrebnadzor.

“The most common strain of influenza is still A (H1N1) 2009, which is recorded in all Russian regions,” the report says.

On December 20, the agency reported that the strain had been identified in 86 regions. After the LPR, DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions were annexed to Russia, there were 89 subjects of Russia.

The head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, said on December 7 that swine flu had come to Russia in earnest this year. The incidence has been on the rise over the past few weeks. On average, in Russia for the week from December 12 to December 18, the incidence of influenza and SARS increased by 15.8%. Over the past week, it has decreased by 7%, the department said.

This year’s most common variant of the flu “causes the most serious damage to health,” Popova noted. Swine flu, according to Rospotrebnadzor, is considered one of its dangerous variants, as it can cause a severe course of the disease and lead to viral pneumonia.
