This case brings to 2,000 violent deaths nationwide. In Zone 8 there are 550 cases.
A new violent death was registered at noon this Friday, November 5, outside the Santa Teresita church, located at 42nd and Rosendo Avilés streets, in the Guayaquil suburb.
Neighbors heard six shots and when they left they found the body of a 28-year-old man lying a few meters from the door of the religious center. The priest went out and, seeing the injured man, called ECU-911. However, the victim no longer had vital signs.
A witness said that two men on a motorcycle arrived at the sector and that the now deceased ran a few meters when he saw that one of the armed subjects approached him. “They shot him several times and he fell there, next to the church park. Several (drug) users gather there during the day, ”said a man who was passing by when the crime was carried out.
Several residents also commented that on October 23, unknown individuals planted an explosive device that did not explode and was removed by the police.
So far in 2021, in Zone 8 (Guayaquil, Durán and Samborondón) 550 violent deaths have been registered. Last year, in the same period, there were 316 cases.
The increase is notorious also at the national level. This year a total of 2,000 cases have been counted until this Friday, November 5. Last year, to date there were 1,090. (I)
