A young man from Guayaquil was kidnapped by at least five subjects while he was selling a vehicle on García Moreno and Chambers streets, in south central Guayaquil.
The incident occurred last Wednesday night, and his release took place yesterday morning.
His family commented that the antisocials had already contacted him to buy the car he had offered on Facebook. At the time of the review, at 7:30 p.m. last Wednesday, with an alleged mechanic they took the opportunity to kidnap him in the car for sale itself.

“He grabbed my arm and I said, ‘What’s wrong?’ and I felt the revolver in my stomach and they pushed me into the car. They laid me down there so I wouldn’t see anything,” said the young man, who is still obfuscated by the experience.
His family stated that as soon as they saw the kidnapping, which was recorded on a video, they alerted the Police; however, the antisocials began to press for the ransom.
“They asked for $20,000, as if one had the money. We are poor people, who earn their daily bread,” commented the young man’s mother, who for security reasons prefers to have her name reserved.
The family explained that they managed to complete $1,300 in the face of dozens of extortion calls.
“They told me: ‘Hurry up with that money or I’ll put it to sleep for you.’ They sent me photos of him blindfolded, tied up, with guns pointed at his head. They sent us audios of him asking not to let him die,” said the young man’s girlfriend.

She commented that the subjects told her to go to Casuarina Avenue to receive the money.
“A motorized car arrived and took the money, and they told us that they were going to count and that they would call us. We waited and they said yes, it was full, let’s wait. Then they called: for us to go to 25 de Julio avenue, in the south, because they were going to dump him there. And we innocently left the place,” said the woman.
The kidnapping victim commented that he was abandoned at the Casuarina early yesterday morning, and asked a taxi for help to bring him home.
Police personnel are monitoring this case, both for kidnapping and theft of the vehicle. (YO)
