They extend hours for the issuance of identity cards for the February 5 elections

A month after the sectional elections are held, the Council for Citizen Participation and Social Control and the 2023 referendum, citizens have begun to prepare.

One of the requirements to be able to vote is to have an identity card in addition to going to the polling stations at the specified time.

Due to the fact that several users seek to obtain the document these days, either due to loss or expiration (although the Code of Democracy allows voting with an invalid ID), the General Directorate of Civil Registry, Identification and Documentation announced that it will extend the hours for this service and thus obtain the document on time.

The entity explained that the identification service is available from 08:00 to 17:00 from Monday to Friday in 185 agencies. From January 16 and until February 5 extended days will be made that will include weekends in 38 agencies.

  • From January 16 to 20: from 08:00 to 18:00.
  • On Saturday, January 21: from 08:00 to 15:00.
  • From January 23 to 27: from 08:00 to 19:00.
  • On Saturday, January 28: from 08:00 to 17:00.
  • Sunday, January 29: from 08:00 to 15:00.
  • From January 30 to February 3: from 08:00 to 19:00.
  • On Saturday, February 4: from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Sunday February 5: from 07:00 to 14:00.

To renew the document, you must pay 16 dollars and get a turn at the Virtual Agency. For people with disabilities, the elderly, children under 3 years of age, pregnant women and people with catastrophic illnesses, it is not necessary to make an appointment and must go directly to the agency to be attended.
