This Friday, November 5, in the Plaza de San Sebastián, in the center of the city, the proclamation was made for the celebrations of the 201 years of independence and 473 years of the founding of Loja.

With this act the novembrinas activities begin in the city. Added to these is the sixth edition of the Living Arts Festival, which will start on November 17.

This Friday, the concentration of artists, actors and participants of the festivities took place in the Plaza de la Independencia or San Sebastián; however, there was no tour of the downtown streets, as in previous years.

The excitement for this proclamation was noticed in actors and authorities who were in the place to observe the act. It was also attended by delegations from some schools that highlighted the program for this day.

The children of the Salvador Bustamante Celi conservatory made a presentation of batucada, accompanied by a small delegation of students from the city, who carried balloons and flags in the colors of the Lojan flag.

Elements of popular and urban culture were used by the Quimera group, the Reysodance dance academy, Gilson Salinas, Segundo Espinoza, Santiago Salazar and the municipal band, in a ten-minute presentation in which they highlighted the independence act called “San Sebastián in resistance ”.

This Friday night a musical serenade is planned in the Manuel Agustín Rodríguez neighborhood.

Some parks in the city, as well as some emblematic streets of the city, such as 10 de Agosto and Lourdes streets, have already been decked out and decorated with aerial decorations, signage and other elements alluding to the Living Arts Festival.

This is one of the first acts that have the physical presence of authorities and spectators, after the restrictions imposed by the Cantonal Emergency Operations Committee (COE) in the face of the situation in the most tragic months of the pandemic. “Now we have to turn this page in history and build our present with effort and work, innovation and solidarity. May the color and hubbub of the Lojans be our letter of introduction to those who visit us, ”said the mayor of Loja, Jorge Bailón. (I)
