Argentina is experiencing a boom in maternity tourism among Russian women. According to The Guardian, women come to the country to give citizenship to the born.
According to the head of the consular department of the Russian Embassy in Argentina, Georgy Polin, in 2022, from 2,000 to 2,500 Russian citizens moved to this country. According to him, many Russian women planned to give birth there.
According to Polina, in 2023 this number could grow to 10 thousand people.
It is known that Russian citizens can stay in Argentina without visas for no more than 90 days during each period of 180 days (starting from the date of first entry). As Eva Pekurova, the head of the agency that provides services to pregnant Russian women abroad, noted, Buenos Aires is now in demand. Citizens of the Russian Federation do not need a visa to enter, and the procedure for extending the stay and applying for a residence permit is quite simple.
Another reason why Russians fly to Buenos Aires is the high quality of medical care, both private and public.
