Historian Daniil Kotsyubinsky and philosopher Grigory Tulchinsky will argue whether people can change their political culture

In the St. Petersburg art space mArs (Marsovo Pole, 3) on Wednesday, January 11, at 19:00, a regular meeting of the Discussion Club of Daniil Kotsiubinsky “Why is everything wrong?” will take place, at which two polar points of view on the past, present and future will collide all cultural and historical communities. The topic of the meeting is whether people can change their political culture?

If so, it means that the theory of modernization — about which the participants of the discussion heatedly argued at the very first meeting of the Club with Professor of the European University in St. Petersburg D. Ya. Travin — is correct, and sooner or later all countries and peoples will turn into blessed liberal democracies , that is, in a broad sense, “to the West.”

If not, then, as it is sung in one of the satirical ballads of Vladimir Vysotsky, if you were born a tree, you will remain a “baobab”, “and you will be a baobab for a thousand years until you die.”

The first – progressively optimistic – point of view will be defended at the DC meeting by Grigory Tulchinsky, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor of the National Research University Higher School of Economics, editor-compiler, as well as one of the authors of the textbook for bachelor’s degree “Political Culture” (2014) and the author of the scientific monograph ” Political culture of Russia” (2018).

The author of the video-lecture projects “In Search of the Real Tsar” and “Fatal Cycles of Russian History”, dedicated to the analysis of the development of Russian political culture throughout the history of Russia, Ph.D.
