In Quito, four people are arrested for carrying weapons and transporting ammunition

Rodolfo P., Erika T. and Robinson R. will serve pretrial detention for the alleged crime of receiving and carrying weapons.

María F., for her part, must periodically appear before a judge and be prohibited from leaving the country, she was prosecuted for allegedly receiving and transporting ammunition without authorization.

The four citizens were detained by the General Directorate of Intelligence of the National Police, after an operation and persecution.

They fulfilled several crimes, for that reason they were part of a real contest of infractions. Article 20 of the Comprehensive Organic Criminal Code (COIP) establishes the “Real contest of infractions. – When several autonomous and independent crimes are attributable to a person, the penalties will accumulate up to a maximum of double the most serious penalty, without for any reason exceeding forty years.

Last Wednesday the special group of the Police carried out an operation in the San José de Morán sector, in the north of Quito. According to his information, an alleged gang dedicated to vehicle theft with the use of firearms operated in that place.

After a chase, the agents detained the citizens who had firearms in their possession, with the exception of María F. who would be transporting ammunition in a kangaroo, according to a report from the Prosecutor’s Office.

For her part, the Flagrancia prosecutor, Jéssica Córdova, presented the version of the arresting agent, versions provided by two victims, ballistic expert reports of the weapons and ammunition found in the operation, the expert recognition and evaluation of evidence, a documentological expert , among other elements that served to initiate the tax instruction, whose term will be valid for 30 days.

In addition, the Prosecutor’s Office reported that, within this case, in a building located in the La Esperanza neighborhood, also north of the city, two vehicles reported stolen were found, and a revolver was found in one of them.

The three detainees are prosecuted for the crimes of receiving and carrying weapons, typified in articles 202 and 360, second paragraph, of the COIP.
