The start of supplies to Kyiv of anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) Patriot from the United States was a “psychological turning point” in military assistance to Ukraine. Now the provision of these weapons can be discussed with other countries, said Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba.
At the same time, he compared the process of negotiations on the supply of weapons with a computer game and called the issue of Patriot supplies “the most difficult level.” “I don’t expect anything more complicated than the Patriot story. Whatever the European allies of the United States in NATO say, they are still guided by the decision of the United States,” the head of the Ukrainian diplomatic department stressed.
In his opinion, European countries may refuse to supply heavy weapons to Ukraine, because “they are afraid of answering the question: ‘What will happen to Russia?'”. Kuleba explained that many in this conflict support Kyiv, but “cannot imagine the defeat of Russia.”
Recall that the Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly called on foreign countries to provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with Patriot systems. Kuleba said that this was necessary to protect the country’s critical infrastructure. On October 21, the US announced a military aid package to Ukraine that includes these complexes.
