Colegio Menor de Quito inaugurated the Performing Arts Center for students

Project aims to promote the development of cultural and artistic education for young people.

A Performing Arts Center incorporated the Colegio Menor de Quito (CM), with which it seeks to promote the cultural and artistic education of young people.

The center will prioritize creativity, innovation, originality, exploration of personal identity, collaborative work and cultural awareness of each student.

“The performing arts play a unique role in schools because students do not need to search for the ‘correct’ answer, but rather express a variety of valid answers using different methods,” said Andrew Sherman, principal of the school.

The institution’s curriculum is made up of an internationally recognized study plan in the areas of music, visual arts, and theater. Currently, the Colegio Menor is part of Nord Anglia Education and has a recent relationship with the renowned Juilliard School in New York, which will further expand the opportunities and global network for each of the students.

The institution indicated that the implementation of this center is the result of more than 25 years of dedication of the collaborators, teachers and students that are part of the educational institution.

For several years, the Colegio Menor de Quito has carried out several investigations in which the importance of including an artistic and cultural training in the school as a gateway to higher education institutions is highlighted.

Studies, according to the entity, show that students, regardless of their ages, who have the opportunity to take performing arts classes are consistently more proficient in all areas, including reading, writing and mathematics.. (I)
