Through an agreement with the Navy, DP World invests $2.3 million to improve security in the Gulf of Guayaquil

DP World Posorja plans to invest $2.3 million to offer greater security to the vessels that sail near the entrance to the Gulf of Guayaquil, through the readaptation and total equipment of the Posorja Major Captaincy facilities by an agreement signed on May 11, 2022.

The works comprise three phases. The first stage was delivered on December 9 at the facilities of the Puerto Mayor de Posorja Captaincy, which included the readjustment and total equipment of these facilities.

In 3 years, DP World Posorja reached one million TEUs mobilized and entered the top 10 on the continent

The second phase will be the construction of infrastructure for the Fixed Coast Guard Station of Posorja and the pier that will facilitate port work. And the third phase will build a housing complex for those who exercise control and surveillance of the aquatic spaces.

Rear Admiral Pablo Caicedo, national director of Aquatic Spaces, said that the Maritime Authority protects the activity of all those who produce for the country and the synergy that exists between DP World and the Ecuadorian Navy contributes to the development and security of the country. He said that this first phase will improve the care of seafarers.

The deep water port of DP World in Guayaquil in Posorja has been operating for three years in a strategic area of the west coast of the South Pacific, being an attraction for foreign trade not only from Ecuador, since it aims to quickly become a regional center. This year it became the only Ecuadorian port in the ranking Container Port Performance Index, prepared by the World Bank, standing out for its efficiency, according to the firm.

In addition, it also received the Port Excellence 2022 recognition, granted by the Ecuadorian Federation of Exporters (Fedexpor), as well as first place for the Security Management System in the BASC Ecuador awards, in the category of ports and maritime and fluvial terminals in the country. . (YO)
