US President Donald Trump, commenting on the decision of the special committee of Congress investigating the storming of the Capitol, said that the Democrats are trying to prevent him from taking part in the elections in 2024.

“The Democratic Bureau of Investigation, DBI, is trying to stop me from running for president because they know I’m going to win,” Trump said, comparing Democratic “persecution” to impeachment, an attempt to keep him out of the running.

“False accusations made by an unelected, highly one-sided committee have already been tried in a second impeachment attempt. I won convincingly,” said the ex-president.

Earlier, a special congressional committee asked the Justice Department to bring charges against the former American leader of sedition, obstruction of Congress and conspiracy to deceive.

On January 6, 2021, Trump supporters stormed the Capitol (Congress Building) demanding that the election results be canceled in which he lost to Joe Biden. Five people died during the riots. The ex-president denies any involvement in these events.
