Inside her home, in the Pedro Carbo canton, a young woman who had been attacked by her ex-partner was killed by a stab wound to the neck. The victim is Karen Holguín, 30 years old.

She allegedly did not want to resume the relationship with the suspect, and this led to an argument at the woman’s home at 08:00 this Thursday, December 8.
Neighbors heard some shouting and insults. She would have been injured inside the house and managed to get out to ask for help.
Some residents said they had seen Holguín leave his house with his hand on his neck, trying to control the bleeding.

They called ECU911 and, when the paramedics arrived at the site, she was unconscious on the sidewalk, a few meters from her house.
Holguín was taken to a nearby hospital, where her death was only confirmed due to the bleeding she suffered after the cut.
Meanwhile, the Police reported that the attacker was arrested minutes after the crime inside the woman’s property.
The weapon used was taken as evidence by personnel from the Violent Deaths Unit (Dinased) of the Guayas Subzone.

Up to this Thursday, 423 murders have been reported in this area; at least 15 would be femicides.
