The President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso, will attend the plenary session of the National Assembly on December 7 to explain and present the reform to the Constitution regarding the participation of the Armed Forces in the fight against organized crime without the need for a Exception status.

Lasso’s presence in Parliament is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., revealed the president of the legislature, Virgilio Saquicela, who clarified that it was the first president who requested to be received to personally present the draft reforms to article 158 of the Constitution.

Saquicela explained that the project presented by the president will serve for the broad debate on which edges the Armed Forces can support the National Police.

The coordinator of the Bancada Acuerdo Nacional (BAN), Juan Fernando Flores, stated that the participation of the FF is necessary. AA. in the fight against crime, and that necessarily has to be a reform to the Constitution.

That the Government sector considers that the Assembly should approve this constitutional change with greater responsibility, and if the will of the Assembly is that the process of the reform should be carried out in the shortest possible time, there is no reason to wait a year to approve a normative.
