Fright and confusion caused a shooting registered on the afternoon of this Tuesday 2 in a private cemetery located in the San Rafael citadel, belonging to the May 24 parish, in Quevedo.
According to versions of witnesses, around 5:00 p.m. a subject fired at another citizen, who to protect himself ran through the interior of the cemetery until he fled. The detonations generated panic among people visiting their deceased relatives in this cemetery. They tried to protect themselves from the projectiles and ran desperately.
Street vendors and taxi drivers waiting outside the cemetery were also alarmed after hearing the repeated detonations.
“The bullets sounded and that generated more fear. The shooting was between two subjects: the one who fired went through the bushes that are in a lot that is next to the cemetery; the victim was another man, who, according to what we can see, was injured in one of his legs, but he also left and was lost from the site, “said a merchant.
Several videos published on social networks evidenced the fact, where people are observed running, including children and adults seeking to hide from the projectiles. Minutes later, police personnel evacuated all the assistants from the cemetery.
The entrance was limited until the uniformed men carried out an inspection of the site and guaranteed the integrity of the citizens.
Until 19:00, the Police had not ruled on this event, which did not leave people dead or injured. The reason for the shooting is unknown, but there is concern and fear among citizens, who fear going to public spaces for fear of being collateral victims of violent events.
