As Anatoly Komkov, head of the marketing department of Perekrestok’s omnichannel business, X5 Group, told Gazeta.Ru, the list of consumers’ main purchases traditionally includes ingredients for salads, herring under a fur coat and mimosa, as well as tangerines, sweets, cheese and red fish.
According to him, closer to the New Year, the demand for such goods as pickled products, meat delicacies and frozen preparations is steadily growing. Also, the list of the most popular products in the pre-New Year period includes canned fruits and vegetables, red caviar, juices and carbonated drinks, sauces and ready-made dressings for dishes, cheeses and sausages.
The Perekrestok express delivery service said that canned peas and red caviar are the most popular in winter compared to the autumn months. They are sold in December by an average of 110% and 581% more than in early autumn. At the same time, according to experts, it is more economical to order these products in the first month of winter, when prices are 20% lower than, for example, in September.
It is also noted that prepared food was ordered 28% more often in November than a year earlier. Analysts expect this trend to continue in the winter.
