Virtually all tankers waiting to pass through the Bosporus or the Dardanelles are carrying non-Russian oil, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said at a press briefing.

According to her, these cargoes are not affected by the recently introduced “price ceiling” for oil from the Russian Federation. The US administration is negotiating with Ankara on how to resolve the issue of the passage of tankers through the Bosporus and Dardanelles. “We are in contact with Turkey, and it seems to us that we are approaching the moment when this issue will be resolved,” Jean-Pierre added.

It should be reminded that earlier it was reported that Western officials call the Turkish authorities responsible for the fact that about 20 tankers with oil from Kazakhstan “stuck” near the Bosporus and Dardanelles straits. Two officials accused Turkey of delaying oil deliveries, noting that the country had no reason to doubt the ship’s insurance status. “These outages are the result of Turkey’s new rule, not an oil price ceiling,” one said.
