“Today an unfortunate event happened. They murdered a colonel in passive service who was acting as director of the CPPL of El Inca, in Quito. That death will not remain anonymous! As soon as I get to Quito I will visit his family and let it be clear: We already have the clues of who is responsible and we will take him to justice to pay for his crime”, Lasso announced without elaborating.

For his part, Guillermo Rodríguez, general director of the National Comprehensive Care Service for Adults Deprived of Liberty (SNAI), rejected the murder and assured that will not go unpunished.

The General Commander of the National Police, Fausto Salinas, also expressed his condolences to Lazo’s family and friends and indicated that the Police will find those responsible.

Santiago Loza Moscoso was in charge of the direction of the El Inca prison since November 9, replacing Carlos Jaramillo, after the massacre that occurred two days before in that center that caused the death of five prisoners.

During Loza’s administration, on November 18, there were new violent incidents inside the prison, in which 10 inmates died.

Those confrontations were retaliation for the transfer of Jonathan Bermúdez, a leader of the Los Lobos gang. (YO)
