A student from the Faculty of Medicine of the Catholic University of Guayaquil died when he was attacked in an attempted robbery inside a taxi when he was going home.
The victim was identified as Danny Leonel Sarango Obasco. He was studying nursing at that faculty.
This event occurred outside the university campus.
The Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil (UCSG) confirmed this incident in which one of its students lost his life.
This entity indicated, through a statement issued this Saturday the 26th, that it will continue to implement a security plan within the university campus located on Carlos Julio Arosemena avenue.
According to the institution, the student was attacked in an attempted robbery inside a taxi when he was going to his home.
He was leaving classes at a night school and gunmen shot him in Daule
“We reject this type of event and urge the authorities to continue carrying out actions that strengthen security in the city,” according to the document.
For its part, the UCSG Nursing Student Association expressed its condolences to the family of Danny Leonel Sarango Obasco.
The university indicated in the same statement that as part of the implementation of its security plan, 35 new high-tech monitoring cameras have been installed, the number of private guards has also increased and, in conjunction with the National Police, the presence of agents inside the campus increased.
