Police rescue merchant who had been kidnapped in El Empalme

Alegría was what a family from the El Empalme canton experienced, on the morning of this Tuesday, July 12, when they saw one of its members return safely to their home, after being rescued by police personnel.

The morning of last Monday, July 11, the citizen had been kidnapped when he was leaving his home, according to Wellington Granda, chief in charge of the Police of that jurisdiction. The plagiarism occurred in a central area of ​​the canton.

The head of that Police district reported that the victim was rescued by police officers. Hours after he was alerted to the event, as a result of an operation, two men are detained for the alleged crime of kidnapping and extortion.

The kidnappers asked for an amount of money from the victim’s family, since, according to the investigations carried out, for several weeks the perpetrators had been following up on the merchant, who is in perfect physical condition, added the police chief.

“We cannot give details of the merchant either to take care of his integrity and that of his family, but we recommend that citizens be more cautious with their businesses and activities that they are going to carry out,” said the police chief.

According to inquiries, four to five people participated in the kidnapping.

For now, the Police have not revealed the identity of the two detainees or the amount they were requesting from the victim’s family.

In the flagrancy hearing, the Prosecutor’s Office expects to file charges against the detainees. (YO)
