While visiting a friend of my mother’s, four-year-old Luna-Ann was attacked by an American bulldog. As a result of being bitten, she had to undergo a complicated plastic surgery, and the doctors placed as many as 40 stitches on her cheek.

The girl’s 32-year-old mother, Amy, who lives in Warwickshire, UK, went with her daughter and son Darren to visit a friend who owned a four-year-old American Bulldog. The dog’s name was Junior, and he was locked in a separate room on the first floor when guests visited. Unfortunately, the animal managed to get out and there was a tragic accident.

When Amy called the emergency services, she was told that the ambulance would not arrive for several hours. So she decided to call a taxi and go to the hospital. Little Luna-Ann was severely bitten and had a torn cheek, and when she came to the care of doctors, they had to perform a two-hour reconstruction of her face and apply as many as 40 stitches. The girl had to stay for a few days for observation in the hospital, and although the scars will heal in about a year, they will stay with her for life. The dog was euthanized after the incident.
