They denounce the Reggaeton Beach Festival for prohibiting food and drink from entering

In the midst of the festival season, the Facua-Consumidores en Acción association has reported to the company that organizes the ‘Reggaeton Beach Festival’a festival that travels to different parts of Spain bringing some of the stars of current reggaeton to its stage, such as Myke Towers, Justin Quiles, Anuel AA, Ñengo Flow or Juan Magán.

The reason: that the promoter RBF Travel has already announced that will not allow to bring food or drink from outside. In a statement, the consumer association considers that it is a “abusive clause” because the main activity of the company promoting the festival is not the hotel industry, but the development of a musical show, although within the venue there will be that offer of food and drink.

The justification of the company, which says that it prohibits it for security reasons is not enough. This is how FACUA considers it, which ensures that the prohibition “is not necessary for the correct achievement of the activity, nor can it be prohibited alleging that it is done for security reasons because inside the enclosure itself it is possible to buy food and drink”.

They believe that the consumer “is deprived of the main service, unjustifiably, having paid the entrance, based on a unilaterally imposed limitation regarding an accessory service that he has not requested.”

In this context, Consumers in Action has recalled that the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (Aesan) published in 2016 a report related to a similar ban in cinemas, in which it concluded that it was an “abusive clause”.

Facua has filed the complaint with the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, the Catalan Consumer Agency and the regional consumer protection authorities of the communities where this event will be held: Andalusia, Asturias, Balearic Islands, Galicia, Madrid, Cantabria, Valencian Community and Canary Islands. He urges these organizations to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the promoter company of the Reggaeton Beach Festival.
