New beer enters the Ecuadorian market

Cervecería Nacional launched its Peruvian Cusqueña beer and, to do so, chose a tasting menu at a good Peruvian restaurant: Embarcadero 41in Plaza Lagos.

The entire menu was paired with Cusqueña Lager. We hope that in the near future the black, wheat and red varieties will also be on the market, which are very good.

This is an excellent beer. In my opinion, a little heavier than a lager typical and therefore with more character. Perhaps with a little more hops, with sweet notes and a penetrating roasted malt flavor.

The first course was a ceviche forklift. One of the most interesting of the night. With different textures. The squid chicharrón stood out for its technique, accompanied by cubed tuna, leche de tigre with hot pepper, chulpi and glazed sweet potato. Fresh, palatable.

Second, the inevitable cause. It is the Peruvian dish that least attracts my attention, even if it is a classic. It consisted of a shrimp cocktail mounted on mashed potatoes, with hints of pisco that were imperceptible, accompanied by avocado, pickled chives and perfectly cooked quail eggs.

The thin loin anticuchos were amazing. Very soft pieces of loin, of great quality, in grilled anticuchera sauce, potatoes, with Creole sauce.

We thought we would finish with a salmon on ocopa sauce grillwith vegetables and corn. the cup It is a very spicy Peruvian sauce, with huacatay, a highly aromatic Andean herb. However, there was still Risotto pumpkin with crispy bacon, cooked 24 hours. Great dish to end dinner. All with subtle flavors, well balanced. The creaminess of Risottoits sweet touch, with very crispy bacon, and its sauce was something well thought out and executed.

In recent years, Cervecería Nacional has become a company with a much better understanding of its market. It has introduced new brands, some only temporarily, leaving others permanently, which have expanded the palette of flavors, notes and tones, making the pleasure of drinking beer something more enriching.

His work with farmers, as well as small craft brewers and restaurants, is something very well thought out that generates value and dynamism in the market.

As a consumer, they still owe me an IPA and a Porter or Brown Ale within their permanent offer.

The launch of Cusqueña was fun, because they did it with an experience, in an informal, fluid environment, in the middle of a good tasting, ideal for an excellent beer.
