‘Feeding the world’, a documentary about chef José Andrés will premiere on Disney+

The next May 27 opens We Feed Peoplea documentary about the Spanish chef Jose Andres and the work that takes place in the World Central Kitchen (WCK)the charity that he founded to bring food to the most needy people, especially in situations of humanitarian crisis.

Shot with all kinds of media to National Geographic and directed by Ron Howard, the documentary, which premieres on Disney+, shows how the World Central Kitchen has grown since its foundation in 2010 from being an organization with a few volunteers to a humanitarian NGO that meets basic needs after a natural disaster or during an armed conflict as in Ukraine.

“Nobody will disagree that food and water are the two most important things in life and even more so in an emergency situation,” says the cook, who assures that “serving people a plate of food after a disaster is more than give them calories to fill them up. A hot meal is tranquility, dignity, hope: a sign that someone cares and that tomorrow will be better.

World Central Kitchen still has the mentality of a startup”, says the chef, worried that the number of poor and hungry continues to grow.

This film will be the second collaboration of National Geographic with director Ron Howard and producer Brian Grazer, since this year they presented the documentary at the Sundance Film Festival Rebuilding Paradise about devastating fires in 2018 in Northern California (USA)

“When we started shooting Rebuilding ParadiseI was amazed to see the immediate impact that José and the team at World Central Kitchen they had on the citizens of Paradise right after the devastating fire that destroyed their population,” notes Howard.

“And now, following him as he helps those who need him most during this pandemic, I have come to realize that the work he is doing around the world is one of the most critical, and often overlooked, needs in healthcare. a disaster. I am honored to share its mission with audiences around the world,” she adds. (YO)
