News from HBO Max in May. What is worth paying special attention to?
“Daughter” – a psychological drama nominated for the Oscars and Golden Globes. It deserves attention as this is Maggie Gyllenhaal’s directorial debut. The main role was played by Oscar winner Olivia Colman, who played the role of Leda – a woman who wants to rest in Greece. Its peace is disturbed by the presence of the family who live in the largest villa on the island. Leda highlights Nina, a young mother – played by Dakota Johnson. The company of the woman makes Leda remember how her motherhood went. Memories and traumas she tried to forget come back to her.
“Boy in striped pajamas” will appeal to people who like stories and are looking for strong emotions, clash with human cruelty. The action of the film takes place in the 1940s, during the war. Bruno, eight years old, moves with his parents and sister from Berlin to the countryside to accompany his father during his job change. The man is a German officer. During his stay in a new place, Bruno wants to get to know the area and this is how he meets Szmul – a boy whose life goes on behind a barbed fence.
