Registration open for community film workshops for migrant women and residents in northern Ecuador

Nómada Cine Comunitario is a collective of audiovisual artists that works with cinema as a tool for social transformation.

Nómada Cine Comunitario 2021, in its first edition “Women on the Move”, offers workshops for women between 20 and 40 years old who are in a situation of mobility in Ecuador and Ecuadorians who reside in northern areas of the country, according to the organization reported this Sunday.

Thanks to the support of UN Women and Nómada Cine Comunitario, the call will be open until November 5, with the application form that can be accessed in this link.

Community film workshops are aimed at women in a situation of human mobility and Ecuadorian residents who live in the northern corridor of the country, specifically in the cities of Ibarra, Tulcán, and Esmeraldas.

This initiative has been created with the aim of sharing knowledge and using the art of who as a tool for social transformation.

The organization believes that the initiative strengthens the power of diverse female storytellers “and that, in turn, they can change the way we see, respond to and shape the world around us.”

The workshops will start on November 8th in a virtual way with two schedules available (morning-afternoon) from Monday to Friday, with practical face-to-face classes one weekend in each city.

During the classes, the scripts will be built together with the students to create the three short films that will ultimately be part of a series, which will be released in early 2022.

“Cinema not only has the power to tell stories and generate emotions, it can also change lives, raise awareness and collectively reflect on issues that we live day to day, locally and globally. The objectives are to strengthen the values ​​of community work, as well as values ​​of equity and equality in all its forms ”.

He adds that they seek to make women able to learn about this tool also as a way to generate job opportunities for students, raise self-esteem, align with the millennium goals and make coexistence less violent and safer.
