Most people who live in or have visited the United States have been to Olive Garden a few times in their lives or have at least heard of it. This popular spot is an Italian-themed restaurant chain owned by Darden International. It has more than 860 stores in the American Union.
In Ecuador it has been advertised on large signs inside the Riocentro El Dorado shopping center. Finally, it opened in Guayaquil at the Riocentro Ceibos at the hands of the El Rosado group, whose proposal also seeks to revolutionize the concept of restaurants in the Ecuadorian market with this leading brand in the casual segment dining Italian American food.
With this new addition, El Rosado operates 40 restaurants spread across Carl’s Jr, Ihop, Red Lobster and Chili’s.
Olive Garden’s offer is pasta and its famous never ending that has conquered the hearts of its guests in cities inside and outside the United States where it works, such as Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Panama, Brazil and now Ecuador. The venue in Los Ceibos has 670 square meters and a capacity for 270 people.
But what is Olive Garden famous for? It’s because of their unlimited soup, salad, and breadsticks. In other words, if a diner is served a main course, they can ask again for a house salad, soup or breadsticks (sticks). “We are excited to open the first restaurant in Ecuador together with Corporación El Rosado. We know that your extensive experience in the food and beverage industry, as well as in retail, will help us successfully serve our customers. We hope Ecuadorians enjoy this great dining experience to the fullest,” said Bradley Smith, senior vice president of Franchise Darden Restaurants.
The Olive Garden menu has more than 30 dishes and the guest can even “assemble” the pasta to their liking. It also has vegetarian and gluten-free options.

The chef from Olive Garden in Guayaquil who trained the team is the American restaurant manager Abe Acosta (44 years old), with a long career within the Darden group. He is the culinary director who came temporarily to train. He comments on what it means to work in our country. “It is an incredible opportunity to work with El Rosado and his team to bring Olive Garden Ecuador to life. I am proud of the team that made this possible.”
Abe practically grew up in the Darden group and knows why the Olive Garden franchise is so successful. “It is because of the Italian generosity delivered in the abundant portions of their dishes, their service never ending from breadsticks freshly baked dailyits iconic salad with its exclusive Italian dressing, homemade soups and sauces that are unique”, says Acosta, who was there for five days, but the rest of the team of trainers will be in Guayaquil training the staff for fifteen days.

The restaurant is also characterized by having excellent harvest wines from Italy, Chile, Argentina, France, Spain and Portugal. “Our menu features hearty and appetizing Italian American classics, done the Olive Garden way. For example, our Alfredo sauce is made from scratch with simple ingredients like Parmesan, cream, garlic, and butter. Our soups are made fresh every morning with rich broths and fresh vegetables. Our famous house salad has crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, black olives, pepperoni and our exclusive Italian dressing. Our recipes are created with great ingredients like ripe tomatoes, fresh vegetables, garlic, wines, heavy cream, and of course Italian cheeses like Parmesan and mozzarella,” Acosta highlights.

In the United States, the chain is modeled after a typical house in the Tuscan countryside. In Los Ceibos it works where the Supercines used to be and its decoration recalls this theme. “At Olive Garden we know that life is better together and everyone is happier when they are with family and friends. From endless servings of our breadsticksour iconic salad, homemade soups and sauces, there is something for everyone to enjoy,” says the University of Pittsburgh graduate chef.
Olive Garden is open every day from 12:00 to 23:00 and home orders are made through the SuperEasy mobile application. (I)
