The singer-songwriter presents this new single in collaboration with the Mexican Joss Favela and assures EL UNIVERSO that he will be visiting the country from this Saturday.
This Saturday he plans to arrive in Ecuador. The Colombian singer Andres cepeda After a long time, he visits the country to reconnect with his followers and also to offer one of the first concerts with an audience in the middle of the holiday and the return of mass shows progressively after the pandemic.
Before his presentation this Sunday in Azogues, as revealed to this newspaper, the singer-songwriter connects with this newsroom to talk about his most recent single If everything ends, a production that plays a duet with the Mexican artist Joss Favela and that emerges from his fourteenth album, work that he plans to release next year.
If everything ends mixes the lyrical inspiration of Favela with the pop rock by Cepeda and a new sound converges, exploring new facets in the two artists. This is a nostalgic ballad that tells of the irremediable end of a relationship. From the consequences of routine and custom; from the fear of losing the other forever; of the selfishness of love.
Favela, composer of these lyrics, was invited by Cepeda to make this song for two voices.
How did this collaboration and invitation with Joss Favela come about?
About a year ago, I was at home, in my country house, with the guitar, with some little teams, working between compositions and productions of what is currently my new album and among other projects and then I was looking for songs, ideas , trying to connect with other colleagues and had heard a number of songs on the voices of other artists and later found out they were from Joss. So I realized that we were in the same record house and decided to contact him and ask him for a song for my album. I started talking to him and we ended up not only doing a very different song than the one we started, but we decided that we were going to sing it together.
So he made this composition of If everything ends, I had the opportunity to produce it and there are two factors that you notice when you hear the song, and that is that it has a letter and a melody very typical of regional Mexican music, but it has a very pop rock that I like a lot and that I have been handling in different productions before. We did this combination that brought to mind those great hits of the pop rock in 2000-2010 and that we yearn a little to hear a song like this again, and that is why we wanted to release If everything ends.
If everything ends talks about ending a relationship, saying goodbye, how not to get to that point that relates the lyrics of the song?
Sometimes it is irremediable, sometimes relationships end, what must be understood is that love does not end, love does not die, love lives in us and is capable of being reborn in someone else and evolving. Sometimes things need to end and put an end to them, put a good end to them, turn the page and get on with life. In the case of this song, it is a person who is trying to do that and who still cannot get rid of all the feelings and memories that he has with his previous partner and then he is like in that process of letting go and that sometimes we it’s a bit painful.
When those relationships do not end by mutual agreement, how can you not feel responsible or guilty for the feelings that the other person has?
Well, that requires a lot of maturity on the part of both of them and only with experience can that be achieved. At first one thinks that the only feelings that are worth are those that one is feeling and it turns out that the other person has other interests, other emotions, other feelings and that to be able to understand it, to be able to rationalize and turn the page, a certain maturity is required, for That experience is the only one that gives us that, having lived it and having learned.
But if we listen to his music there is no doubt that love arises. How do we make it last forever or make it valuable while we live it?
If we want a love to last us forever, we must work very hard, we must work on love and we must nurture it so that it does not die, we must make it special every day, otherwise the routine ends up killing it. I think that love can last as long as one wants, if one really dedicates oneself to taking care of it and taking care of it.
On this new album, what other genres and collaborations will surprise your fans?
Well, it is a composed album, half of songs in collaboration and the other half of solo songs. It is an album that explores sounds like this from pop rock, the ballad, even with the bolero, a little electronic too, there is a mixture of factors there and it is an album as I told you that I have been working on in recent months and I will present next year, another two singles and when I present this fourth single I will reveal the rest of the album and so I can share it with all of you.
For the release of the next album, how do you plan to release it, through platforms streaming or with a live audience?
That’s right, because we are going to be taking advantage of both possibilities, both that of reaching many people through technology, and that of going to present the album in person, in concert. To sing the songs, to sing them on stage and we are already beginning to return in almost all the countries of Latin America.
And speaking of going back to the stage, what are the next destinations to visit and when are you back in Ecuador?
In fact, tomorrow (this Saturday) I am going to Guayaquil, from there I have a trip to Cuenca and I am going to be in a very close town called Azogues offering a concert this weekend. This is going to be the first visit that I am going to make to Ecuador this year and next year I will return with my compadre Fonseca and with my concert as well, we have many wishes to visit Guayaquil, Quito, Loja, Cuenca, which we have not seen for a long time. we see and we have pending meetings with you. In Azogues I sing this Sunday, in an event of the Municipality, it is an event open to the public. There I will be waiting for you in the square. (AND)
