Maryla Rodowicz on the meeting with Vladimir Putin. “It was scary”

Maryla Rodowicz, moved by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, decided to return with her memories to her meeting with the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. As it turned out, the singer had the opportunity to meet a politician years ago during one of the official banquets.

Maryla Rodowicz about Vladimir Putin. “As if I were talking to a fish”

– The Russian people are not to blame for what is happening. That madman Putin is to blame. It is not known where this madness will lead him – she emphasized in an interview with Fakt.

– And I had an idea to organize a concert of Polish-Russian culture. There was a dinner which Putin was at. Aleksander Kwaƛniewski was the president at the time. And after lunch, there was a little party. Everyone stood and Putin was led from group to group, she recalled, explaining the circumstances of her meeting with the Russian president.

– They introduced us and told him who I was. I told him then that I had an idea for a concert presenting the great Russian and Polish culture. As I was saying this, I could see his watery eyes appearing through me. That he looks through me as if I’m transparent. He had zero emotions. It was terrifying. As if I were talking to a fish! It was terrible, it really was. I’m sure he didn’t listen to me and thought, “Stop it now,” she admitted.

As she added, Alyaksandr Lukashenka also causes a similar fear in her. – 8 years ago I was at the festival in Vitebsk. I took my son there and we saw scenes from the movie. Before the concert itself, I had to go back to the hotel for something. In the streets I saw an army standing next to each other with long weapons, because Lukashenka was about to pass for the concert. I have never seen anything like this in my life. It was terrifying. I think that this Lukashenka regime is also dangerous, she noted.
