The emblematic and successful song “Safaera” by Bad Bunny gets him into trouble. The bad rabbit had a millionaire figure to pay, after losing a lawsuit for plagiarism filed by the American singer Missy Elliot.
The rapper sued the famous Puerto Rican artist for using a guitar riff from her song “Get Ur Freak On” without her consent.
Although the exact amount he lost was not disclosed, Joel Muñoz from Jowell & Randy, a duo that collaborated on “Safaera”, revealed to Jorge Pabón “El Mollusco” that Elliot demanded millions of dollars from the interpreter for copyright.

The endless problems for Bad Bunny for “Safaera”
Since 2020 when the theme was released, it brought endless problems for the Bad Rabbit, despite the great success it had. Either because of its controversial lyrics, because of its withdrawal from the Spotify platform or because it faces various accusations of plagiarism, according to E!
In the case of the rapper, Jowell explained: “She asked for a bunch of millions of dollars and Noah Assad (founder of the record label Rimas Entertainment) made an agreement for her to keep all the royalties, and there they said: ‘Ah Well, it’s fine’… they kept everything. What happens is that legally they can’t get me out, because I wrote there, so they gave me 1%, Randy 1%, Ñengo 1% and they kept all of them. Even Bad charges like 1% too. We went down with that song, we had to give it up”.
The song “Safaera” belongs to Bad Bunny’s YHLQMDLG album and contains 20 songs, almost all of which are hits on digital platforms.
