Everyone, without exception, should be aware that the hanging towels in the bathroom, which we use every day, and even several times a day, are full of bacteria. On their surface, not only our dead skin accumulates, but also fungi and other muck (including bacteria from the toilet). Moreover, the bathroom is a humid and warm room that creates an ideal environment for the life and reproduction of various microorganisms. Therefore, if you do not want to expose yourself to possible infections, they should be replaced frequently with freshly washed ones.
How often to wash and change towels? Better to remember this well
New York University School of Medicine microbiologist Philip Tierno told the site how often he thought the towel should be replaced with a clean one. It turns out that it is much more common than most people probably do. Well, according to an expert, if we completely dry the towel after using it, we should replace it after three times.
It’s hard to say if what’s on your towel is going to hurt you. But if you share it with others, you come into contact with microorganisms your body is not used to, such as Staphylococcus aureus. It could end up with pimples or an infection
– says Tierno.
Many people will catch their heads when they hear this. Of course, a slightly less frequent change of towels should not adversely affect our health, but it is very important to make sure that they are changed once a week and dry thoroughly after each use.
It’s about just being aware and prudent
– emphasizes the microbiologist.
