Adua Basteri, Luis Miguel’s great aunt, was the last relative to have contact with Marcela Basteri before her disappearance and now recounts her experience.
From the first season of the biographical series of Luis Miguel (on Netflix) the followers of the Sun of Mexico have been more interested than ever about the controversial disappearance of their mother Marcela Basteri.
To this day it is unknown what really happened with Luismi’s mother, a mystery that may be deciphered in the third and last installment of Luis Miguel: the series, which premiered on Thursday, October 28. Or maybe not.
While the unknown persists, Adua Basteri, great aunt of the Mexican interpreter, who claims to have been the last person to have contact with his niece before her disappearance, has revealed intimate details about the last communication between the two.
“Marcela came to Italy to visit his father and meet his family ”, commented Adua on the Mexican television program Windowing (from TV Azteca). “We did not ask him anything, because he said that she got along with her husband and that everything was fine.
The relative recalled that Marcela accompanied her Sergio, his youngest son and who was then three years old, because his second child, Alejandro, he was with his paternal grandparents in Madrid. During the time that Marcela was with her aunt, she never mentioned having problems with her husband. “He told us absolutely nothing. If she had told how things were going with her husband, she would not have sent her to Spain ”, she warned.
“Wanted to stay in italy, but her husband called her because I had to go to Chile to sign for Micky, because otherwise he wouldn’t be able to sing. However, the manager called me and said: ‘Aunt Adua, there’s no need Marcela and Luisito come to sign for Micky so he can sing, that’s my responsibility. ‘ Luis Miguel was a minor and could not sing if there was no signature of the parents; because Marcela went to Spain”.
According to the aunt, Marcela (who was in the house of Las Matas, where some believe he died) said that she would go to Chile as well, but she does not know if the trip took place. “I was talking to Marcela on the phone and I said: ‘Are you leaving now?’ She said, ‘Yeah and we’ll see you in a month.’ I said, ‘In a month?’ And that seemed a bit exaggerated. He replied: ‘No, no, aunt, don’t worry, in a month, as soon as I get back I will call you right away.’ And he has not called me again ”, he mentioned.
According to Adua, her niece wanted to return to live in Italy because “he really liked being with his father”. In fact, he commented that had an account in his name in Switzerland, where there was money that Luis Miguel had earned. “He said to me: ‘Auntie, with 20 million a month we live in Italy?’ I said, ‘Are you kidding me? You give them to me and I make you live like a queen. ‘ He says: ‘Because with the money we have in Switzerland we get 20 million interest’ ”.
“Luisito wanted my niece to sign him to have the checking account in his name, because it was in the name of Marcela, “he revealed. “Also the house, the jewels. I don’t know if the house in Madrid was notarized. And then my niece also told me: ‘Auntie, when Micky is 18 years old, he will realize that his father has eaten his soul and you’ll see what happens.’
