They ask to withdraw a failure of Burriana for “sexist”: “A terrible scene of sexist violence is staged”

Several feminist groups have called for the withdrawal of a falla from Burriana (Castellón) which they accuse of being “sexist” since “It stages a terrible scene of sexist violence, more specifically sexual violence.”

It is about the monument planted by the L’Escorredor fault and whose motto is “Qué be viu Batiste el primitiu” (How well the primitive Batiste lives). In her a troglodyte is staged who grabs a woman by the panties -also primitive- that is falling forward.

The Abolitionist Front of the Valencian Country assures that “no matter how much the fallas have a component of humor and satire, there is no justification for staging something as serious as sexual violence that we women suffer and, much less, praising the action (you just have to read the motto of the monument)”.

Along these lines, they add that “we find ourselves in a very serious situation for women, adolescents and girls, since Gang rapes by young people have increased worryingly in recent years.”

“The fallas monuments, as part of the culture of our city and country, also educate the population and, above all, the young population, who have more time to enjoy the fallas. The presence of this fallero monument is intolerable. We demand their immediate withdrawal,” they said in a statement.

The president of the fault, Iván Barrio, has called the controversy “absurd” and “surreal”. Speaking to ‘The newspaper‘, points out that “whoever knows a little about flaws knows that everything is a satire, and is tired of seeing boobs in many monuments”.

“They’re turning the party upside down. It is a satire and it is seen in the messages of the failure, for example of the unfulfilled promises of politicians“, he assures, remembering that the design was already planted in 2005 due to another Valencian failure.
