Mon Laferte launches ‘1940 Carmen’, his new album with songs in English

“1940 Carmen” is the album with which Mon Laferte makes his debut with compositions in English.

The singer Mon Laferte, a Chilean based in Mexico, launched her new album this Friday, 1940 Carmen, with which she debuted with compositions in English and which she performed in the context of her pregnancy.

“This is my new album, 1940 Carmen. A journey through hormones. Thank you for listening to my songs, “the 38-year-old artist shared on her Twitter account.

The singer-songwriter had already released the single on October 4 Something is better, in which she expresses the change in emotions and mentality that she has experienced in her life since she wanted to become a mother.

The Chilean confirmed to her followers last August that she was pregnant and claimed to be meeting a new version of her that she had never experienced.

The new ten-track material “wows” the ears with “alternative sounds,” and is “written and produced entirely by Mon herself,” according to a statement from Universal Music and Criteria Entertainment.

“The album begins with sonorous allusions to the psychedelic California of the late 60s and early 70s, and returns in the last songs to sounds with influences of the 50s from a much more hopeful perspective,” detailed the bulletin.

The production of 1940 Carmen It took place for four months in Los Angeles, California, in a rental accommodation whose address gives the album its name and in which “Mon explores composition in the English language for the first time,” according to official information.

Some of the topics that stand out for their lyrics in English are Good Boy, Beautiful Sadness and A Crying Diamond.

The album is released before the concerts that the Chilean will give at El Teatro Metropólitan in Mexico City, on December 7 and 8.

In addition, the artist is about to conclude a tour of the United States with sold-out concerts this Saturday at the Night of the Dead Festival at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles.

Laferte has four nominations for this year’s Latin Grammy Awards, which will take place in Las Vegas on November 18. (E)
