While some of the solitary artists found in the isolation of the pandemic more time on their hands to create, others, on the other hand, were limited in being able to meet with their groups and work together, due to the restrictions on meetings, among other obstacles that it brought with it. the health crisis. It has certainly been a difficult time for musical groups.
This was the case for 3-60a Guayaquil band “that was made at the tip of rock and roll and blues”, highlights one of its founders, the musician John Ortega, better known as John Marcell. “During the pandemic, the integral part of the band affected us, because two members had to go live in other cities for work. So now I am in charge of the musical project”, he explains.
But the rock of 3-60 still persists with a theme that could be recorded before the band disintegrated. this is how it came evening, night, early morning, which was presented at the beginning of February. “It has been well received, in about 7 days it had 6,000 reproductions on Spotify, it has gone well for us, thank God,” emphasizes John, vocalist and guitarist. To date, it registers 15,600 plays.
The theme is about how much you can miss someone seen from the point of view of “you’re leaving, but I’m leaving too”. “This song talks about a farewell on an April day, the afternoon comes to make this moment sadder, the sunset, the night turns gray and the morning full of thoughts of what could have been and could not be, many sleepless nights, early mornings contemplating the stars, not knowing where to go, and being sure that the memories will always remain for that special, unforgettable person.
According to Marcell, the tune was recorded in 2017, but he saved it for a 2019 or 2020 release.”But the pandemic came and everything got complicated, now in 2022 we wanted to resume even though the band couldn’t get together. This topic is like the signal that we can meet.”
The group was born in 2008, precisely on December 26, which is the 360th day of the year. Hence the name. “It was the day after Christmas, since nobody works that day, we got together to rehearse, we wanted to make our own music, because we had been playing covers previously”.
“We entered different music festivals, some ended up being band tournaments. By winning two in a row, we realized that we were doing something right and we decided to release our music.”
This is how their first album was released. Out of time in 2015, with eight songs telling stories of the school and the university, where its original members met.
“We were able to meet Daniela Guzman A while back when she needed a band to release her music. We spent 2008-2010 touring with her, opening for her shows,” recalls John.
“We also adapted to the Guayaquil format, which has presentations in small places, like bars. That’s how it went very well for us.” In this sense, his last tour, in acoustic format, was called chill-outwith presentations in Guayaquil, Babahoyo and Cuenca.
As for this year, John promises that a new album will be finalized, scheduled to be released in July or August. It is currently in the mastering phase. “It’s a whole new musical and lyrical stage.”
