The Cartagena International Film Festival (FICCI) began this Wednesday in this Colombian Caribbean city, in its 61st edition, which will host the Spanish Rossy de Palma, one of the most recognized Almodóvar girls, as its central guest.

The FICCI, which will run until March 21, will pay tribute to the Spanish actress for her long artistic career that began in 1987 with her participation in The law of Desirefrom Pedro Almodovar.

Rossy de Palma will offer a masterclass next Friday at the Training Center of the Spanish Cooperation of Cartagenain which he will talk about cinema and his career in the seventh art.

In this edition, which finally returns fully to the theaters of Cartagena, after an edition “Interruptus” last year, moviegoers will find expanded samples of Afro and indigenous cinema, a section dedicated to eroticism in the cinema and the presentation of two cycles of two greats of cinema, one for the centenary of the birth of Pier Paolo Passolini and another for the ninety years of the birth of Francois Truffaut.

The FICCI will have a section entitled “Erotika”, dedicated to cinema that focuses on desire, eroticism and sexuality, and will continue the already usual “Fictions from here, from there and from there” sections, dedicated to fiction feature films and “Documentes”, dedicated to documentary feature films.

Also “People who make movies and what movies do to people”, films where the team and the process are important parts of the documentary itself; omnivorousdedicated to experimental cinema; It’s hotfeature films from Caribbean countries, and Inlandwhich promotes cinema in municipalities and territories that do not have a large cinematographic infrastructure.

The artistic director of FICCI, Felipe Aljure, said that attendees will be able to see films such as the Japanese Drive My Car (2021), by Ryûsuke Hamaguchi, and Moneyboys (2021), by the Taiwanese CB Yi, among the more than 150 works, among short and fiction, documentary, animation and experimental feature films, which will be screened.
