On Thursday, February 24, at 3 a.m. Polish time, Russian troops attacked Ukraine. The soldiers struck both from the ground and from the air. The Ukrainian army is resisting tough, but the situation is changing minute by minute. N
Readers of the Harry Potter series of books know very well that Lord Voldemort is the incarnation of the worst evil, someone who in his sick ambitions almost resembles Hitler. He is a powerful wizard advocating the concept of racial purity of wizards and their natural domination over non-magical “muggles” (ie ordinary people).
The mural in Poznań does not look like this anymore
In her books, JK Rowling described that Voldemort tortured, murdered and mutilated innocent victims who refused to obey him. He was so overwhelmed with a lust for power that he tried to kill an innocent baby, because the prophecy said that he would defeat him. It just so happens that the child Voldemort tried to kill (many times throughout the saga) was Harry Potter. After their first collision, a lightning-shaped scar was left on his forehead. It is not difficult to understand why the author of the murals decided to make Vladimir Putin look like a sorcerer, and Volodomir Zelensky just like “the boy who survived”, that is, Harry Potter.
It is very significant that the mural with Putin has disappeared and has been replaced by the Ukrainian president portrayed in this way. The author of the portrait also took care of other symbolic details: in the background you can see the Kiev Cathedral of God’s Wisdom and the statue of Bohdan Khmelnitsky, and the scar on Zelenskiy’s forehead is in the shape of the letter “Z”, which appears, among others, on Russian tanks that attack Ukrainian cities and civilians. The new mural also has the inscription “Free Ukraine” or “Free Ukraine”.
The author of both images is the same author: Kawu, a street artist who has been active in Poznań for a year. In his work, he uses references to popular characters from contemporary pop culture. His works show, among others characters from such films and cartoons as “The Godfather”, “House of Paper”, “The Lion King”, “Scooby Doo”, “Tramp in Love”, “Rick and Morty”, “The Grinch”, “Toy Story”, “House for imaginary friends of Mrs. Foster, “Dexter’s Laboratory”, “Ed, Edd and Eddy”, “Tom & Jerry”, “The Powerpuff Girls”, “Bambi”, “The World According to Ludwiczek” or “The Simpsons”.
What’s more, Kawu, next to the photo of the new mural on social media, placed the address of the fundraising campaign conducted by. Anyone can join the fundraiser by paying via Facebook or pcpm.org.pl/ukraina. More information in the article:
