On Thursday, February 24, at 3 a.m. Polish time, Russian troops attacked Ukraine. The soldiers struck both from the ground and from the air. The Ukrainian army is resisting tough, but the situation is changing minute by minute.
“In the face of the ongoing war beyond our eastern border, each day makes us aware of how grateful we should be for the roof over our heads, food and the safety of our loved ones” – wrote Marcin Dorociski on his social media profile. The actor decided to support our neighbors who are fleeing the war-torn Ukraine.
How many refugee powerbanks can you buy for 10,000?
Marcin Dorociński donated 10 thousand. zlotys for the purchase of power banks for Ukrainian women and Ukrainians who are waiting at the border crossing with Poland. In this way, they will be able to have contact with their families and friends – says the actor. The equipment has not only been purchased, but has already reached the needy.
“Good idea. Help is not only blankets and food. We, for example, buy trampolines and balls for children from Ukrainian orphanages, because that was the request (over 200 children in the center must have entertainment!)”, “I had no contact with my friend since two days. Chernihiv … He wrote back to me recently. It turned out that they had no electricity for a few days … And now I am reading your entry. This is a very important help, you are great “- we read in the comments under the actor’s entry.
A similar gesture was decided by, among others, who are going with the KSW delegation to the reception point in Dorohusk. – This is an escape from death, a journey into the unknown. That is why our help is so important. We must do everything we can to help the refugees. War is always a tragedy of the common man – comments the athlete.
What is the situation at the border?
Polish customs officers try to clear the border as quickly as possible, but there are huge queues to pass. On the government website we read that people who want to enter Poland from Ukraine should “prepare and keep with them their and family documents (ID card, passport, if you have – certificate of vaccination / healing), prepare cash, secure provisions (water, eating) on the road, taking into account possible delays and, among others, recharging the phone and power banks. ” “- we also read on the website of the Border Guard.
After crossing the border, the Polish services try to provide all the necessary help to those people who are not picked up by anyone they know. For example, in Medyka, there are tents where everyone can warm up and get a meal. Those who cross the border on foot are transported by buses to reception points, where basic necessities, cleaning products and food are available free of charge – in Korczowa there is even a tent with pet food. Medical assistance is also free of charge, and free WiFi is available in most places.
