On the other hand, the virtual version of the Sample #8M presents four movies which can be viewed online all month and throughout Ecuador: Start over (Anna Cabré Albós and Isaac Lupiáñez Fontanet, 2021), Zoila (Gabriela Pena, 2021), andromedas (Clara Sanz, 2019), the story of María, an Ecuadorian woman who migrated to Spain and has cared for Rosita for ten years. You can also access My age, yours and the age of the world (Fernanda Tovar, 2021), the opening film of the third edition of the EQUIS Festival (2021); and lives in motion, thirteen short films made by thirteen women in situations of human mobility, during Vidas en Movimiento-Autobiographical Stop Motion Workshop in Cuenca and Quito (2021). The Sample #8M is organized by X – Feminist Film Festival of Ecuador, together with the Embassy of the European Union in Ecuador, with the support of Movies That Matter, the French Institute, the French Alliance of Quito and the French Embassy in Ecuador.

Exposition

The V Exhibition of Contemporary Graphicsrecently inaugurated in the Nahim Isaías Museum in Guayaquil, is located in what they call “the periphery”, that space where arts and resistance converge. This exhibition has been made with the curatorship of Víctor Hugo Bravo (Chile) and Hernán Pacurucu (Cuenca); and, from the Canary Islands, the co-curatorship of the Spanish artist Francis Naranjo.

An important part of the show is the installation by this year’s guest artist and archaeologist, Mariella García from Guayaquil, a work called The beautiful figurine: From the end of utopias to the rebirth of retrotopias, referring to the female figure of the Valdivian culture. This exhibition, located on the upper floor of the museum, proposes an inclusive and multimedia experience that enriches the visit. Attendees will be able to scan several QR codes to find stories with the voice of the author, who, narrating her own interpretation of the ancient existence of this ancestral character of ours, makes us part of a magical, intimate space, in which aromas that They are already part of the collective memory.

This Tuesday, March 8, at 6:00 p.m., as International Women’s Day is remembered, the catalog of this exhibition is presented, which includes the research work and construction process of the works.

About this exhibition, the critic Carlos Rojas affirms: “The color stains subsume the images, in others the images claim their right to be fully present. It is a coming and going from the past to the present and back. Requirement of the past of being properly understood; recognition that we can only approach ancestral art through the eyes of contemporary art”.

The public is invited to visit this special exhibition, with a technological component that accompanies it and nourishes the contents of the sample.

The Nahim Isaías museum is located in Pichincha between Aguirre and Clemente Ballén, and is open free of charge to the general public from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m..

The film portrays a story about women’s empowerment as it is based on a true story of Rani Lakshmi Bai (1835-1858), the historical queen of Jhansi who fiercely led her army against the British East India Company in the infamous riot of 1857. Archeology Talks

Dragons and warriors during pre-Hispanic times” is the title of the activity organized by the MAAC and Espol. Espol School of Archeology will offer two talks by two archaeologists on Women’s Day. Fundación Sociedad Femenina de Cultura will carry out “women for art”, a tribute on the occasion of International Women’s Day, through recognition of the members who have been part of this institution for more than 45 years.
