Gay and Catholic? For years, the artist Daniel Rycharski has been trying to show that faith and the rainbow are not mutually exclusive. The film inspired by his life, with Dawid Ogrodnik in the lead role, won the Golden Lions at the Gdynia Film Festival, and now has been awarded the Golden Tape in the Polish film category.
“Aida”, directed and screened by Jasmila Žbanić, won the Golden Tape in the Foreign Film category. The production was nominated, among others for the Academy Award for Best International Film and BAFTA Awards. This is a Polish co-production, which – like All Our Fears – was co-financed by the Polish Film Institute. The main character is a translator working for the United Nations, who tries to save her family when Serbian troops enter Srebrenica.
