“Multitude” is released after Stromae’s break from the stage for several years. During this time, the Belgian, who was made famous by the single “Alors on danse” from 2009, settled down, began to lead a calmer, more orderly life close to his family and found his joy at work again, finding new sources of inspiration.
He took eight years off from music, but his return was worth the wait
Stromae put himself in the shoes of a variety of characters while working on his new album. That is why “La Solassitude” and “Mon Amour” are told from the perspective of an impermanent man, “Fils de Joie” is the story of a prostitute’s son, and the characters of “Pas Vraiment” are a mismatched couple. In “Mauvaise Journée” and “L’Enfer” we deal with depressed protagonists, while in “Santé” we deal with “invisible” people. “Déclaration”, in turn, is about suffering women.
Stormae has released the albums “Cheese” (2010) and “Racine carrée” (2013). After a series of sold out concerts, including at the prestigious Madison Square Garden in New York, the artist took an eight-year hiatus from music. During this time, he focused on various creative endeavors, such as making music videos for stars such as Dua Lipa (“IDGAF”) and Billie Eilish (“Hostage”) or creating a capsule collection for Mosaert in collaboration with Coralie Barbier and Luke Van Haver.
In October 2021, Stromae surprised fans with the new single “Santé”, which already had over 100 million views and 23 million views on YouTube.
In January, the artist presented another single “L’enfer” (“Hell” – French), which is a kind of talisman against the darkest thoughts. In the piece, Stromae juggles contrasts to present an intimate story about depression and suicidal thoughts. The music video for the song was directed by Julien Soulier, Luc Van Haver, Coralie Barbier and Stromae himself.
While promoting the upcoming album “Multitude”, Stromae will set off on a tour, during which in August 2022 he will perform in Park Śląski at the FEST Festival.
