Award-winning painters from various countries exhibit at The Collector’s Club Art Gallery, in Cumbayá

An exhibition with the work of the winning painters of the Josefina Villacreses International Painting Prize, first edition, is exhibited these days and until March 27, at The Collector’s Club Art Gallery, in the Cumbayá Valley, in the eastern part of Quito .

According to Silvana Montúfar, director of the gallery, this exhibition seeks to promote access to art by the general public, which is why she invites those interested to visit it. In it you can see the works of the winner of the first prize: Andrés Franco from Ecuador, from Alexander Tongombol from Peru, winner of the second prize, and Fidel Jiménez, also from Ecuador and who was recognized with the third prize.

Montúfar explained that the The contest was promoted by the Josefina Villacreses Foundation, which in November was very well received, as 600 artists from 19 countries participated, of which 10 were finalists. The winners were chosen from among them.

Montúfar also commented that in the exhibition you can admire a painting by each of the finalists, which They are from Argentina, United Kingdom, Cuba, among others. In addition, on March 17 there will be a presentation of a book containing the works of the painters.

Andrew Franco presented his work that is inspired by the human figure and stray dogs to express forceful and emotional work. The feelings of vulnerability and loneliness are reflected in her paintings and urban interventions.

Tongombol, in his work, ostracism is always present, he uses a mixed technique with cardboard; while Jiménez shows with his work, lying womanhis skill in oil.

Ecuadorian painter Fidel Jimenez He explained that his medium and large-format works show his interest both in “recognizing the expressive possibilities of oil painting and inquiring into the beautiful virtue of the art of reflecting and illuminating.” Fidel Jiménez, who has studied at the Quito Institute of Visual Arts and at the Faculty of Arts of the Central University of Ecuador, recently participated in the collective exhibition “Three Quiteños Painters”, at the Pichincha Bar Association.
