The best series of 2021. Haven’t you seen? We advise what is worth making up for

The best of 2021 is a list that is easy to create – especially if it could go on and on. However, we selected a few productions from different platforms that were hits last year and it is definitely worth catching up.

The best series of 2021 – Netflix, HBO GO, Prime Video, Canal +

  • “Scenes from Marriage” – HBO

Ingmar Bergman’s classic translated into modern times. A bitter vivisection of the breakdown of a long-term relationship and an analysis of the love discourse accompanying the breakup. The series was masterfully played by two main actors – Jessica Chastain and Jonathan Oscar Isaac.

The Cleaner is the story of a young mother who tries to free herself from her toxic partner. However, when she decides to become independent, fate throws her new challenges. Noteworthy here is the main role of the actress, Margaret Qualley, who brilliantly captured the drama of a modern woman in a world that is still unfavorable to her.

The series by Brad Ingelsby and Craig Zobel with Kate Winslet in the lead role disenchants stereotypes about the suburbs and breaks with the serial clichés about the work of detectives. It is also an important voice in the discussion on mental health.

  • “Exterminate All That Cattle” – HBO

“Exterminate All That Cattle” takes the viewer on a journey through time, revealing the dark pages of history. Production deconstructs the ways of creating and covering up events, focusing on the acts of exploitation and genocide behind colonialism.

  • “Invincible” – Prime Video

The animated series “Invincible” plays with the figure of a superhero in an intriguing and fresh way. However, instead of stripping it of stereotypes, it goes a step further and extends the already known paths.

“Squid Game” is one of the loudest productions of 2021. The series quite unexpectedly won the hearts of viewers, becoming one of the platform’s flagship offers. It is addictive entertainment that, while holding in suspense, touches the problems of the modern world.

Polish production about the traumatic fate of the Wejman family after the mysterious disappearance of their daughter. Actors (including Aleksandra Popławska, Arkadiusz Jakubik) managed to create fascinating, deep and non-obvious psychological portraits of characters caught up in life’s dramas.

  • “Madam Dean” – Netflix

A bittersweet comedy series with Sandra Oh about the realities of dormitories in the times of cancel culture, the aftermath of #metoo and privileges in university reality. Although the subject matter may seem hermetic to many, the manner of its presentation is open to a wider audience.
