International online museum meeting

Museums and community is the theme of the program ‘MuseumFriends’, a meeting that has the support of ICOM Ecuador, in which they will participate Artecampo Museum, Santa Cruz (Bolivia), Transxingu Memory House project, Pará state (Brazil) and the Ecuadorian museum Lovers of Sumpa, in Santa Elena. The Artecampo Museum, Original and Popular Art of the Lowlands, since 2017 shares in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, the artistic production of indigenous and peasant women, for the recognition of women and their territories; spreading the cultural richness of Tierras Bajas, connecting the interests and needs of citizens with expressions of popular art and ancestral knowledge. The program will tour the space of this museum observing in the garden some of the plants that are raw material for artisans and the pieces that are created with them. The Transxingu House of Memory is an institution whose action plan is to register, safeguard, investigate and disseminate the Cultural Heritage of the Xingu Region (Brazilian Amazon). Quimbita invites your sample

You can visit 35 years of recreating light, a retrospective of the legacy of the artist Olmedo Quimbita to commemorate his artistic career. Born in Latacunga in 1963, he is the son of Rafael Quimbita, a wealthy merchant and farmer, and Zoila Panchi. He was the youngest of five siblings. In 1977 he was already drawing and his father was a friend of the prominent oil painter Manuel Cangui. In 1981 the family settled in Quito.
