“The funds will support the fundraising campaign organized by which – together with our host – the City of Katowice – has been dynamically operating in recent days to help as many people as possible affected by this unimaginable tragedy” – the festival organizers write. They also noted that eBilet Polska Sp. zoo agreed to waive the commission for the sale of tickets from this pool and appealed:
As it is a charity event, we humanly appeal – if you decide to buy a ticket or a ticket from this special pool, please do not return it. These measures support a good cause. We believe in people and in this situation we also count on your goodwill!
More OFF Festival artists
By the way, the organizers of OFF revealed that Central Cee will perform on the Perlage Stage on August 7th. His debut mixtape “Wild West” hit the second place of the best-selling albums in the UK. Critics were delighted to say that the new king of the British drill had just been born. Central Cee just followed the blow, releasing another mixtape, titled “23”, containing incl. hit “Obsessed With You”.
$ NOT will appear in the same place the day before. The 24-year-old artist from Florida started out with SoundCloud uploads in 2016, then posted on YouTube and TikToku, and “Billy Boy” on the soundtrack of the series “Euforia” opened all doors for him. No wonder that the recently released $ NOT’s third album titled “Ethereal” hosts such giants as ASAP Rocky and Juicy.
Who else will be on display at the OFF Festival?
J.DIIV (Perlage Stage, August 5th) – Good guitar playing always for a price. This time we owe them to, inter alia, New York quartet DIIV, creatively developing the best traditions of shoegaze. They returned to the stage after a break of several years, during which the leader of the group, Zachary Cole Smith, had to take care of his health and organize his personal life. It worked, but thanks to this, the album “Deceiver” released in 2019, the third in DIIV’s output, is their strongest and darkest album.
ROMY – Romy Madley Croft has many faces. First, we met her as a great guitarist and singer of the alternative trio The xx, later it turned out that she feels great about pop, which she proved by composing, among others. for Dua Lipa. He has been working on his solo debut since 2020 and the first singles – “Lifetime” and “Lights Out” – promise joyful and soulful material at the same time.
Prospa – When in the middle of last year in Great Britain pessimists thought that the dance parties would never come back, the single “Want Need Love” was released by Prospa. The Leeds duo – Gosha Smith and Harvey Blumler – broke out in 2018 with the single “Prayer” and since then they regularly release numbers that effectively – to cite the title of another hit – control the party. Do you come to dance at OFF? It could be THIS concert.
Arooj Aftab was born and raised in Punjab, but lives and works in the United States, where she graduated from the prestigious Berklee College of Music. She is an excellent singer and a phenomenal, original composer who can combine minimalism from Terry Riley’s school with a jazz ballad and Asian musical tradition. If you are not moved by the sad “Vulture Prince”, her third album, then – sorry to say – you probably have a heart of stone.
Ela Minus – her most famous number is called “megapunk” and it really is mega. Punk is more of a spirit – after all, it comes from an album called “Acts of Rebellion” – than from the sound, because this rebellion can and even has to be danced. It can also, surprisingly, be whispered rather than shouted out. A Brooklyn-based artist from Colombia creates a cold wave disco that will work just as well on headphones, in your rooms, with the lights off, and on the festival stage.
Lex Amor – rapper, producer and DJ from North London who follows her own paths. Judging by the quality of the full-scale debut released in 2020, Government Tropicana will go a long way. In her style, there is no aggression or show-offs, there is an introspective narrative and an intimate, dream flow. It’s so good that you don’t know whether to focus on brilliant texts or feeling, so it’s best to repeat it and then again …
Ghosts – these dreampop Ghosts were triggered by the singer and songwriter Joanna Komorowska and the producer and composer Michał Szturomski (Afro Kolektyw, Sowy Polski, Nervous Holidays). They debuted in 2021 with the EP “You can see better at night”, supposedly inspired by films by David Lynch – and yes, you can hear these secrets in their music, surrealism, a suspension between wakefulness and sleep.
The OFF Festival Katowice 2022 will also feature the previously announced Iggy Pop, Metronomy, Rina Sawayama, Bikini Kill, Pi’erre Bourne, Yves Tumor & Its Band, Alt? N Gün, Molchat Doma, Dry Cleaning, Q, DJ Seinfeld presents Mirrors: Live, Erika de Casier, Natalie Bergman, Yard Act, Mdou Moctar, The Armed, Squid.
OFF Festival Katowice 2022 will be held on 5-7 August, traditionally in the Three Ponds Valley.
