Carlos Vives and Camilotwo stars of Colombian and Latin music, unite their voices and creativity for the first time in old balla song that will be part of the next album by Vives y tells a love story through football.
The characteristic sounds of Colombia and romanticism, elements that unite the two artists, shine in the song released this Wednesday by Sony Music and in the video clip, which It has the special participation of Vives’ mother, Aracely Restrepo.
Vives and Camilo appear in the video as soccer players from the Gaira FC team facing St. Peters on a 19th-century pitch, dressed in English-style striped shirts, shorts below the knee, suspenders and caps.
They are on the same team and one of them competes for the love of a woman with a player from the rival team, played in the video by Lucca Pietro.
The “little old ball” is in the song and the video a symbol of love and the importance of playing this “sport” responsibly so as not to hurt the other.
“If you don’t give yourself seriously, if it’s not a complete love, where did you come from? / If you’re going to throw me away, like an old ball / Then I don’t play anymore,” says a stanza of the song.
Traveling through time in a story set in a 19th century sports club, the video is inspired by the aesthetics, costumes and set design of film productions such as The english game.
Vives and Camilo composed the song together with Jorge Luis Chacín, Latin Grammy nominee, Andrés Leal and Martín Velilla, and the production was handled by Vives, Leal and Velilla, according to a statement from the record company.
The video was recorded in Miami under the film direction of Felipe Montoya and Sergio Ramírez for Mestiza Films and the creative direction of Carlos Vives.
